Overview

The K2 Basecamp Trek is a breathtaking adventure that takes you deep into the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan. This remote journey leads to the basecamp of K2, the second-highest mountain on Earth and one of the most difficult to summit. Starting from Skardu, a town in northern Pakistan, the trek typically takes 12-15 days. Along the way, trekkers will pass through stunning landscapes, including glaciers, high-altitude passes, and mountain ranges. The journey ends at Concordia, a vast glacial confluence often referred to as the "Throne Room of the Mountain Gods." This trek is physically demanding, requiring excellent fitness, thorough preparation, and the proper gear and equipment. It also involves high-altitude risks and challenges, making it a dream for any serious adventurer.

The trek begins upon arrival in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, where trekkers are transferred to a hotel for rest and preparation. The next day, trekkers fly to Skardu, where they’ll spend the day preparing for the trek. From Skardu, the journey starts with a drive to Askole, a small village at 2,600 meters, where the first night’s camp is set. The following day, trekkers hike to Jhola (3,185 meters), where they set camp again. Over the course of several days, the trek continues through Paiyu, Urdukas, and Goro II, with a rest day in Paiyu to help acclimatize.

The highlight of the trek is reaching Concordia at 4,690 meters, a massive glacial confluence. From here, trekkers make their way to the K2 Basecamp at 5,150 meters for a night at the foot of the world’s second-highest peak. Afterward, the group retraces its steps, passing through Goro II, Khuburtze, Mundung, and Askole. The journey concludes with a drive back to Skardu, a final rest day, and a flight back to Islamabad before returning home.
